The owners of a Ford Mustang contacted the Phoenix Police Department to report that their vehicle had been stolen from the parking lot of their apartment complex.

The police verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Ford.

A short while later, officers from the Phoenix PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Ford with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Ford to a neighborhood near 40th Street and Portland Street in Phoenix.

The Ford Mustang was found unoccupied on a side street in the neighborhood.  The Ford was recovered and processed for evidence.  The Ford was returned to the owners in good condition.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Ford Mustang in January 2002 by O’Rielly Autoplex in Tucson, Arizona.
