LoJack® System Helps Weld County Sheriff’s Office and Greeley Police Department Recover Stolen Honda Accord

The owners of a Honda Accord contacted the Greeley Police Department to report that their vehicle had been stolen.

A police officer verified the theft and had the vehicle information entered into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Honda.

Minutes later deputies from the Weld County Sheriff’s Office picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Honda with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the deputies tracked the Honda to the 1400 block of 32nd Street in Evans, Colorado.  A Greeley PD investigator had also arrived in the area seeking a wanted fugitive in an unrelated matter.  He too had also spotted the stolen Honda parked on the street.  This investigator was watching the unoccupied Honda to see if the fugitive he was seeking was involved with it.

The Honda was safely recovered and returned to the owner who was unaware that the car was equipped with LoJack at the request of a previous owner.  However, the current owner was very happy for the fact that it had a LoJack for it had led to a quick recovery with no damage.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Honda Accord in December 2001 by AutoNation Honda Miami Lakes in Miami, Florida.
