LoJack® System Helps Law Enforcement Recover Stolen 2004 Cadillac CTS

The owner of an automobile auction contacted the Melbourne Police Department to report that their premises were burglarized. During the burglary a 2004 Cadillac CTS 4-door sedan and four other vehicles were stolen as well. The responding officer prepared a stolen vehicle report, theft affidavit and had the vehicle’s information entered into the state and federal crime information computers.
Later that afternoon while on routine patrol an Orlando Police Department officer picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen CTS on their on-board LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC). The officer had their dispatcher issue a BOLO (Be On the Look Out) for the stolen vehicle’s information to Orlando PD and Orange County Sheriff’s Office units in the area. The officer began tracking the stolen Cadillac by following the directional and audible cues on their PTC screen. The OCSO helicopter “Chase 4” advised the ground units that they had observed the Cadillac behind a barber shop in the 1400 block of North Pine Hill Road. Units from the OCSO and OPD converged upon the driveway behind the shop. Upon arrival, the officers discovered the Cadillac occupied. After further investigation one subject was arrested and the others were sent on their way. The arrestee was in violation of the following: Grand Theft Auto, Possession of Cannabis with intent to sell/deliver and no valid driver’s license.
The Cadillac was recovered, towed to the police impound yard for safekeeping, and removed from state and federal crime information computer systems. One of the other stolen vehicles was found blocks away, after it was pushed into the street. At the time of this writing, the other 3 vehicles had not been recovered, only the one with the LoJack Stolen Vehicle Recovery System was recovered.
The LoJack® System was installed in the 2004 Cadillac CTS at Massey Cadillac in Orlando, Florida in September 2005.
