LoJack® System Helps Michigan State Police Recover Stolen Lexus 300

The owners of a Lexus 300 contacted the Onslow County Sheriff’s Office to report that their vehicle was stolen from the driveway overnight in Jacksonville, North Carolina.
The Onslow County SO verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Lexus.
A short while later troopers from the Michigan State Police picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Lexus with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the troopers tracked the Lexus which appeared to be on the move. They continued to follow the signal to a mall parking lot in Lyon Township where it appeared that it was just parked by the suspect.
Surveillance was established on the stolen Lexus and a short time later the suspect returned and attempted to drive off but was stopped by the troopers. The suspect was found to be from North Carolina, was arrested and later admitted to stealing the Lexus from Jacksonville.
The LoJack® System was installed in the Lexus 300 in July 2000 at Bay Ridge Luxury Lexus in Brooklyn, New York.
