The owners of a 2006 Scion XA contacted the Los Angeles Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen. A female friend had taken the keys for the Scion.

The LAPD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Scion.

Six (6) minutes later, patrol officers from the LAPD Topanga Division picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Scion with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Scion to the area of Sherman Way and Winnetka. The officers conducted a felony traffic stop and took the female suspect into custody for auto theft related charges without incident.

The Scion was released to the owner.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Scion in December 2006 at Hamer Toyota in Mission Hills, CA.
