LoJack® System Helps Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Recover Stolen Toyota Camry

The owners of a 2002 Toyota Camry contacted the Los Angeles Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen.
The LAPD Southeast verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota.
Only three minutes later deputies from the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department Southeast picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Toyota with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the deputies tracked the Toyota to 126th street in the city of Los Angeles. The deputies located the Toyota parked on the street and pulled in behind the vehicle, which appeared to be empty. As the deputies approached the Toyota they found two subjects lying down on the backseat attempting to conceal themselves. The deputies detained the subjects and questioned them. One of the subjects stated he took the Toyota from his aunt to pick up his girlfriend.
The deputies contacted the owner and had her respond to their location. The owner stated she did not know the subject claiming to be her nephew. The subject was arrested and the other detained subject was released. The undamaged Toyota was returned to the owner in the field.
The LoJack® System was installed in the Toyota Camry in December 2002 at Bob Baker Toyota in Lemon Grove California.
