The owners of a 2014 Toyota Camry contacted the Harris County Sheriff’s Department to report that their vehicle was stolen when a subject approached them in a parking lot, pointed a handgun at the owner and demanded his keys and phone. The owner complied and the subject drove away in his Camry.

The Harris County SD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the State and Federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota.

A short while later officers from the Houston Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Toyota Camry with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Toyota to a residence where the vehicle was observed parked in the driveway. The officer approached the person at the home and was told the subject who drove the Toyota to her house had attempted to leave out the rear door but was turned back by a pit bull dog. They also advised he was hiding in the bedroom and had been observed with the keys to the stolen Toyota. The subject was arrested for Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle and outstanding felony warrants for auto theft.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2014 Toyota Camry in April 2014 at Fred Haas Toyota in Spring, TX.
