The owners of a 2014 Toyota 4 Runner contacted the Newark Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen while at their place of business in Newark. The customer also called the LoJack Call Center and reported that her husband was driving the Toyota and exited the vehicle to close their gate, when a guy in a hoodie jumped in and took their car.

The Newark PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota 4 Runner.

A short while later, officers from the Essex County Sheriff’s Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Toyota with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Toyota to a housing project parking lot in the City of Newark, where the vehicle was located abandoned. The Toyota was recovered undamaged.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Toyota 4 Runner in June of 2014 at Toyotaland in Springfield, NJ.
