Colorado Springs Officers Recover Stolen Honda Accord Using LoJack Recovery System

On the morning of February 29, 2012, the owner of a 2000 Honda Accord discovered that his car had been stolen in Colorado Springs and immediately contacted the Colorado Springs Police Department to report the theft.
Colorado Springs officers prepared a stolen vehicle report and had this information entered into the state and federal crime databases. This routine police action automatically and seamlessly activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Honda Accord. The transponder then began to emit a silent homing signal to police vehicles in the area equipped with LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC).
A few minutes later, officers with the Colorado Springs Police Department picked up the silent LoJack tracking signal from the stolen Honda with their onboard PTCs. Following the computer’s tracking cues, the officers tracked the stolen vehicle to the 1100 block of Alexander, where they found the abandoned Honda. The vehicle was recovered and held for safekeeping until it could be returned to the owner.
The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Honda Accord at the owner’s request in July 2000.
