LoJack® System Help Houston Police Department Recover Stolen 2004 Chevrolet Suburban

The owners of a 2004 Chevrolet Suburban contacted the Houston Police Department to report their vehicle was stolen from the parking lot of a cafe.

The Houston PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Chevrolet Suburban.

Deputies from the Harris County Sheriff’s Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Suburban with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the deputies tracked the Chevrolet to a residence in a subdivision at FM 1960 & Kuykendahl in North Harris County.  The person in possession of the Suburban advised deputies they had the Chevrolet in the auto body shop for front end damage repair from an earlier accident. The Houston PD auto theft officers arrived, inspected the Chevrolet and determined it to be a VIN switch. The Chevrolet was seized and stored pending further investigation. This is an ongoing investigation.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Chevrolet Suburban in November 2004 at Bill Heard Chevrolet Corp in Sugar Land, Texas.
