LoJack® System Helps Colorado State Patrol Recover Stolen 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt

The owners of a 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt contacted the Commerce City Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from their home. The investigating police officer verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Cobalt.
A short time later Troopers with the Colorado State Patrol picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Chevrolet Cobalt with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the Troopers tracked the Chevrolet to an area in North Denver/Thornton where they found the Chevrolet unoccupied.
The Troopers notified the BATTLE Auto Theft Task Force who then initiated surveillance on the Chevrolet. Subsequently investigators observed two suspects return to the Chevrolet and watched as they prowled other vehicles and stole items. The suspects were stopped and arrested.
The Cobalt was recovered and evidence of other crimes discovered. Both suspects are pending multiple charges.
The LoJack® System was installed in the Chevrolet Cobalt in August 2009 at AutoNation Chevrolet in North Denver, Colorado.
