The owners of a Chevrolet Silverado pickup contacted the Phoenix Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from the parking lot while at work.  The owner said that the Chevy pickup was secured in the lot that morning and found missing at the end of the work day.

The police verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Chevrolet.

Nine minutes later, officers from the Phoenix PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Chevrolet with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Chevrolet to an apartment complex parking lot in the 8000 block of north 27th Avenue.

The Chevrolet was found unoccupied in the parking lot.  The Chevy pickup was recovered and processed for evidence.  The Chevrolet was later returned to the owner with minor damage to the ignition.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Chevrolet Silverado pickup in September 2004 at Midway Chevrolet-Geo in Phoenix, Arizona.
