LoJack® System Helps the Tarrant County Task Force Recover a Stolen Ford Taurus Twice and Make an Arrest

The owner of a 2007 Ford Taurus contacted the Fort Worth Police Department to report that his vehicle was stolen from his driveway. The suspect had broken into his Ford Taurus, found the ignition keys in the center console and stole his Ford. The LoJack® System was activated in this Ford, was tracked and was found abandoned. The keys were not recovered. Seven days later, the owner found his Ford missing again from his driveway. He called the Fort Worth PD and made a report.
The Fort Worth PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Ford.
A short while later, detectives from the Tarrant County Task Force picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Ford with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in their vehicles. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the detectives tracked the stolen Ford to a house approximately a half mile from the vehicle owner’s home. They found this stolen Ford parked in the driveway. The detectives set up surveillance and observed a suspect walk out of the house, get into the stolen Ford and back it up close to the garage door. At this point, detectives were able to apprehend the suspect before he got back into the house. Tools that were inside the stolen Ford were found inside the suspect’s garage. The suspect was arrested and the vehicle keys were recovered.
The LoJack® System was installed in the Ford Taurus in March of 2004.
