The owners of a 2008 Toyota Prius contacted the California Highway Patrol North Sacramento Area to report that their vehicle was stolen. The victim indicated the Toyota had been stolen sometime during the night from in front of their residence.

The CHP verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota.

Less than 5 minutes later officers from the Sacramento Police Department and the Sacramento Sheriff’s Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Toyota with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Toyota to the 4300 block of Green Tree Street and observed it parked unattended in a driveway of an abandoned house.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Toyota Prius in April 2008.
