The owner of a 2006 Ford Mustang contacted the El Cajon Police Department to report that his vehicle was stolen in the city of El Cajon.

The El Cajon PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Ford Mustang.

Thirty minutes later, officers from the San Diego Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Ford Mustang with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Ford to the 5400 block of Kearny Mesa Avenue in San Diego.  A traffic stop was made and the driver was arrested for vehicle theft and possession of stolen property.

The Ford was recovered undamaged, had previously been stolen twice and recovered both times by the LoJack® system.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Ford Mustang in December 2005.
