The owners of a 2005 Kia Spectra contacted the Jefferson Township Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen during the night from their driveway in the Oakridge section of Jefferson Township.

The Jefferson Township PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the 2005 Kia Spectra.

A short while later officers from the Riverdale and Butler Police Departments picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Kia with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Kia to a residential neighborhood in Bloomingdale where the Kia was recovered abandoned.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2005 Kia Spectra in June 2005.
