LoJack® System Helps Houston Police Department Recover Stolen 2007 GMC Sierra and Arrest Two Suspects

The owners of a 2007 GMC Sierra pickup contacted the Harris County Sheriff’s Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from their residential driveway sometime during the previous night.
The Harris County Sheriff’s Department verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the GMC pickup.
Thirty minutes later officers from the Houston Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen GMC pickup with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the silent LoJack signal to a residence in the 8500 block of Burbank and observed two males working on the GMC. When officers approached, one of the suspects fled on foot. The other suspect was quickly taken into custody. The suspect admitted the other person had brought the GMC over to his place and hired him to help remove the parts. They were going to use the parts to rebuild a salvage vehicle that was also on the property.
The LoJack® System was installed in the 2007 GMC Sierra pickup in August 2006.
