LoJack® System Helps Pierce County Sheriff’s Department Recover Stolen Dodge Magnum and Arrest Two Thieves Who Took the Car in a Residential Burglary

While the owner was at work, his residence in Spanaway was burglarized. Thieves took several items from the residence and loaded them into the owner’s Dodge Magnum after they found the keys. The owner received an Early Warning Alert from LoJack while at work. Early Warning is a LoJack feature that contacts the owner of the vehicle when it moves without the presence of a LoJack Key Pass. The crimes were reported to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department who verified the information. The vehicle information was then entered into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Dodge.
That same evening, officers from Pierce County Sheriff’s Department, Department of Fish & Wildlife and Roy Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Dodge with the LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.
Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers were able to locate the vehicle at a large supermarket on the Mountain Highway near Spanaway. Two suspects in the car were taken into custody. Stolen items from the burglary were recovered and entered into evidence.
The LoJack® System was installed in the Dodge Magnum in June of 2011.
