The owners of a 2006 Jeep Wrangler contacted the Tempe Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from the parking lot of their apartment complex.  The owners believed that they may have mistakenly left the keys in the vehicle.  Surveillance video of the parking lot revealed that the Jeep was stolen by an unknown male suspect.

Tempe Police verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Jeep.

Just minutes later officers from the Phoenix Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signals from the stolen Jeep with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the vehicle to a neighborhood near 15th Street and McDowell Road in Phoenix.

The Jeep was found unoccupied on a side street in the neighborhood.  The vehicle was recovered and processed for evidence.  The Jeep was later returned to the owners in good condition.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Jeep Wrangler in January 2009.
