The owner of this Honda Accord contacted LAPD Harbor Division and reported that their vehicle had been stolen. The officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Honda.

Within eleven minutes from the activation, LAPD Air-18 flight officers picked up the silent LoJack signals from the stolen Honda Accord with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the flight officers tracked the vehicle to the area of 79th St and Hoover St notifying patrol units from the 77th Street Division.  Officers responded and located the stolen Honda in an alley off 77th Street and Vermont Ave. They also noted three other Honda vehicles, a Honda engine and a Nissan Sentra.  Upon checking the vehicles it was determined that all of them were recently stolen.  One of the Hondas was cut up in four sections.  The assisting units were able to locate a male adult and tied him into the vehicles found at the scene. This suspect was arrested and later booked VC 10801 Operating a Chop Shop.  .

The LoJack® Stolen Vehicle Recovery System was installed in this Honda Accord in January 2004.
