The owner of a 2010 Honda Accord discovered their vehicle missing from their Miami home. The owner contacted the Miami Police Department to report their vehicle stolen. The responding officer prepared a stolen vehicle report and theft affidavit and had the vehicle’s information entered into the state and federal crime computers. This routine police procedure automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the 4-door sedan. A short while later, a member of the Auto Theft Task Force picked up the silent LoJack® System homing signal from the stolen Accord on their on-board LoJack® System Police Tracking Computer (PTC), which assists law enforcement officers to locate stolen vehicles quickly and safely. The member began tracking the stolen vehicle by following the directional and audible cues on their PTC’s screen. The member, along with their backup from the Miami Police Department, located the vehicle backed into a parking space in a grassy parking lot on N.W. 19th Street between N.W. 2nd Court and N.W. 3rd Avenue in Miami. The stolen Honda was recovered, released to the owner, who responded to the scene, and removed from federal and state crime computer systems. The owner was extremely happy that a LoJack® Stolen Vehicle Recovery System installed when they purchased the vehicle, but had forgotten that it was in the car.

The LoJack System was installed in the2010 Red Honda Accord 4-door sedan in June, 2010.
