The owner of a Honda Civic contacted the Cary Police Department to report their vehicle was stolen by a known person approximately two weeks earlier.  The  acquaintance had delivered the vehicle owner to work and promised to return at the end of the day to pick up the owner.  A search had been made for vehicle and driver but no contact has been made.

The Cary Police Department verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Honda.

The next morning, approximately 80 miles from the theft location, agents of the NCDMV License and Theft Bureau picked up the silent LoJack® homing signals from the stolen Honda with the LoJack® Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the agents tracked the vehicle to southeast Fayetteville, off I-95 and Tom Starling Road.   There the agents located the Honda sitting on Corporate Drive, occupied by one male and the engine running.  The  suspect was taken into custody after the suspect admitted to taking the Honda.  He also stated he came to the Fayetteville area, started using drugs and failed to return the car.  The Honda was towed and stored to await the owner taking custody.  The suspect was arrested for the two felony charges of larceny and possession of stolen property.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Honda Civic in November 2000.
