LoJack® System Helps Los Angeles Police Recover Stolen Toyota

The owners of a 2008 Toyota Tacoma contacted the Los Angeles Police Department-Mission Division to report that their vehicle was stolen. The vehicle was parked at the residence. An extra set of keys were missing and the victim’s felt a family member had taken the vehicle without permission.

LAPD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota.

25 minutes later, LAPD “Air 10” flight officers picked up the silent signals from the LoJack® System installed on the stolen Toyota on the LoJack® Police Tracking Computers installed in their Air Units. Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack® computers, the vehicle was tracked to the area of Lassen Street and Oakdale Ave. Officers from Devonshire Division responded to the area. The stolen vehicle was observed W/B on Ballinger Street at Vanalden Ave. The suspect abounded the vehicle in the street and fled on foot, was last observed running through the wash. The suspect was located and taken into custody for 10851 VC (DWOC) without further incident.

The vehicle was impounded for safe keeping.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Toyota Tacoma on 07/23/08 at Hamer Toyota, in the city of Mission Hills, CA.
