LoJack® System Helps NYPD Police Recover a Stolen Honda Motorcycle

The owner of a 2008 Honda CBR 600 reported to the 115th Precinct his motorcycle was stolen from in front of his house, in Elmhurst, Queens.
The 115th Precinct verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and Federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed on the Motor Cycle.
A short while later, detectives from the Auto Crime Division of NYPD picked up the silent signal from the LoJack® System installed on the stolen CBR 600 on their LoJack Police Tracking Computers installed in their patrol vehicles. They followed the directional and audible cues from the LoJack® computer. They tracked the signal into a residential area of the 101st Precinct. Tracking the signal, it led them to a residential street where they narrowed the signal down to a private driveway with a private garage where the signal appeared to emanating from. After a brief investigation, the officers located the stolen motorcycle inside the garage of the private home. They attempted to speak to someone in the building, but apparently no one was home. The staked the building out and after several hours the owner came home. They interviewed him and he stated that the bike was brought to him by a friend, who asked if he could use his garage to do some work on the bike. At this time the bike was confiscated and the investigation is continuing, with an arrest eminent.
The Honda was recovered in good condition, with minor ignition damage; also the gas tank had been removed. The owner was notified, and he was elated that his Bike was recovered so quickly with the use of LoJack. He further stated that he was happy that his bike was equipped with the LoJack unit, when he bought it.
The LoJack® System was installed in the 2008 Honda on March 3, 2008 at Cycle Power, Howard Beach Queens NY.
