The owners of a 2005 Ford Escape contacted the New Orleans Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen in a carjacking. The owner related that he was in the process of dropping off his brother in St Bernard area of New Orleans when he was approved by to male subjects that were pointing guns at him. They demanded his car and he complied

The New Orleans Police Department verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Ford.

A short while later  troopers from Louisiana State Police picked up the silent LoJack® homing signals from the stolen Ford with the LoJack® Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the troopers tracked the vehicle to the  Gentilly neighborhood and found the Ford Escape parked on a city street.  The New Orleans Police Crime Lab and detectives processed the vehicle. As the result of this quick recovery evidence was located that may help identify the suspects in this carjacking.

The Ford Escape was in great shape and place in storage yard until the owner could pick in up.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Ford Escape in September 2004.
