LoJack® System Helps Sacramento Police Department Recover Stolen Dodge Intrepid

The owners of a 2002 Dodge Intrepid contacted the CHP-Rancho Cordova Area to report that their vehicle was stolen while parked in front of their residence.

The CHP verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Dodge Intrepid.

Less than 10 minutes later , officers with the Sacramento Police Department  picked up the silent LoJack® homing signals from the stolen Audi with the LoJack® Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the vehicle to the area of 14th Ave and Freeport Blvd, where they observed the vehicle being driven by a male suspect. The officers initiated a felony traffic stop and took the driver and passenger into custody without incident. Both suspects were juveniles and the driver was on probation for auto theft.

The vehicle was impounded for safe keeping to be released to the owner later.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Dodge Intrepid in January 2003.
