LoJack® System Helps Cleveland Heights Police Recover Honda Accord Taken in Home Invasion

The owner of a 2008 Honda Accord contacted the Cleveland Heights Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen. Unknown suspects had forcibly entered the victim’s home. The suspects were armed with handguns and tied the victim up and removed property along with the keys to the Honda. The suspects then bound the victim up and left the residence. The victim was able to get loose and contact law enforcement.
Cleveland Heights Police verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Honda.
A short while later, an officer from the Cleveland Heights Police Department picked up the silent LoJack® homing signals from the stolen Honda with the LoJack® Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officer tracked the vehicle to a residential area of Cleveland Heights.
It appeared that the suspects had parked it to “cool off”. Surveillance was established on the stolen Honda and after some time the officers had the Honda impounded for processing. Because of the quick recovery the suspects were unable to strip it or use it to commit other crimes. The case is ongoing pending forensic evidence. The LoJack® System was installed in the Honda Accord in December 2007.
