Ford Pickup Stolen from Dallas Hotel — Three Suspects Arrested After Vehicle Stop and Foot Chase

The owner of a 2006 Ford F-350 pickup truck stayed at a Dallas hotel during the night of February 15, 2012; when he awoke the next morning, he discovered that his vehicle was missing from the hotel parking lot. The owner immediately reported the pickup stolen to the Dallas Police Department. Dallas officers gathered the vehicle’s information, which they entered into the state and federal crime computer databases. This routine police action automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the vehicle. Neither the owner nor law enforcement had to do anything else to activate the LoJack Stolen Vehicle Recovery Network, because LoJack’s interface with law enforcement is both seamless and instantaneous.
Six minutes later, Dallas officers picked up the silent LoJack homing signal on the LoJack Police Tracking Computer installed in their vehicle. Following the directional and signal strength cues on their onboard computer, the officers tracked and located the stolen pickup, parked behind a vacant house. Officers set up surveillance, and after several hours, observed three suspects enter this stolen pickup and drive away. The officers conducted a felony stop of the pickup; the driver jumped out and fled on foot. He was apprehended, as were the other two suspects before they could flee. All three suspects were arrested. The ignition to the stolen pickup was broken. The pickup was returned to a very happy owner.
