LoJack® System Helps NYPD Recover a Stolen Toyota Sequoia

The owner of a 2004 Toyota Sequoia contacted the 105 Precinct NYPD, Queens Village to report that his vehicle was stolen from him. The owner stated that he was delivering Chinese food and he parked his vehicle and exited to go to make the delivery. Unfortunately he left it running with the key in the vehicle. When he came out he observed a male driving off with it. Apparently some miscreant took advantage of his mistake, and jumped in and drove off.
The NYPD, 105th Precinct verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Stolen Toyota Sequoia.
A short while later, officers from the NYPD 73rd Precinct picked up the silent signal from the LoJack® System installed on the stolen Toyota on their LoJack Police Tracking Computers installed in their patrol vehicles. Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack® computers, they tracked the signal into the Brownsville section of Brooklyn, confines of the 73rd Precinct. There they tracked the vehicle, which was moving at the time. Eventually they were able to catch up to the vehicle which was stopped at a traffic light. With the help of other units they were able to block the vehicle in, thereby avoiding a pursuit. The vehicle was occupied by five males, at this they were trying to sort out who actually drove off with the vehicle; however all were placed under arrest. The vehicle was recovered with no damage; obviously the vehicle was taken with the key. The owner was contacted and was present on the scene. He was elated that his vehicle was recovered so quickly, especially with no damage on it.
