LoJack® System Helps Pima County Sheriff’s Department Recover Stolen Ford Explorer

The owners of a Ford Explorer contacted the Pima County Sheriff’s Department to report that their vehicle was stolen with the keys from the driveway of their residence in North Tucson.  The owners advised that the keys were left on the front seat of the Ford Explorer.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Ford.

Shortly afterwards, deputies from Pima County Sheriff’s Department picked up the silent LoJack® homing  signals from the stolen Ford with the LoJack® Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the deputies tracked the vehicle to the area of Ina Road and Oracle Road in North Tucson.

The deputies arrested the two occupants in the stolen Ford Explorer without incident.  The vehicle was processed for evidence and returned to the owner in good condition.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Ford Explorer in April, 2001
