When the owner of a Honda Civic discovered it had been stolen from his driveway in Austin, TX, he hoped the LoJack® system installed when the car was purchased would help police make a fast recovery- and his hopes were realized when local law enforcement located the vehicle in less than a half hour after activation.

On June 23rd, 2014, the Honda’s owner reported the crime to the Austin Police Department. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Civic, which was installed at Howdy Honda in Austin, TX.

Just a few minutes later, an Austin Police flight crew picked up the silent homing signals from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their helicopter. The Honda was located in the parking lot of a fast food restaurant. The flight crew requested ground support. The round units arrived on scene and found a suspect in the passenger seat who was taken into custody. The Camry was in good condition and was soon returned to its very relieved owner.
