On a recent Thursday morning, the operator of a Ford F-550 exited his home in Hialeah Gardens, FL, planning to drive his service truck to work. Imagine his surprise to discover that the vehicle was no longer where he had parked it the previous evening. It’s a good thing that the truck was protected with the LoJack® system. With LoJack’s help, local law enforcement made a fast, safe, same-day recovery.

On May 29th, 2014, the truck’s operator reported the crime to the Hialeah Gardens Police Department. The responding officer prepared a stolen vehicle report and theft affidavit and had the vehicle’s information entered into the state and federal crime computers. This routine police procedure automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the F-550.

Within minutes of activation, officers from the Miami-Dade and the Miami Police Departments picked up the silent homing signal from the stolen truck on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The officers located the Ford near N.W. 26th Street and 27th Avenue, where it was parked and unoccupied with no contents missing. The F-550 was recovered and soon returned to its relieved driver.
