Arizona Police Agencies Aid in Tracking and Recovery of Stolen Chevrolet Silverado

Upon discovering the theft of his Chevrolet Silverado on the afternoon of January 27, 2012, the owner contacted the Avondale Police Department to report the crime. The stolen Chevrolet’s information was then entered into the state and federal crime computer databases. This routine police action automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the vehicle.

Thirteen minutes later, police officesr with three agencies — Maricopa County Sheriff, Tolleson Police Department and Phoenix Police Department — began picking up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Silverado on the LoJack Police Tracking Computers installed in their police vehicles. Another agency, the RATTLER Auto Theft Task Force, had detectives working in the area and they tracked the stolen pickup to an apartment complex in the 8300 block of W. Indian School. Detectives set up surveillance; however, no suspects returned to the stolen truck and it was quickly recovered.  

 The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Chevy Silverado at the owner’s request in August 2006.
