The owners of a BMW 325i in North Miami Beach, FL, made the mistake of leaving their car unattended and unlocked with the keys in it outside their home. Unfortunately, a thief took advantage of this lapse in judgment by hopping into the driver’s seat and taking off with the vehicle. These owners were really glad there was a LoJack® system installed inside their 325i, which helped local police recover it later that same day.

On April 17th, 2014, the BMW’s owner contacted the North Miami Beach Police Department to report their vehicle stolen. Officers prepared a stolen vehicle report and theft affidavit and had the vehicle’s information entered into the state and federal crime computers. This routine police procedure automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the 325i, which was installed at Tulley Buick-Pontiac-GMC-BMW in Nashua, NH.

Later that evening, a Fort Lauderdale PD officer picked up the silent homing signal from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computer installed in his patrol vehicle. The BMW was located on the fifth floor of the elevated parking garage at Broward General Hospital. Police retrieved the 325i and soon returned to its thankful owners.
