The owner of a 2014 Toyota RAV4 was visiting a friend in Pinecrest, FL, when she was accosted by two armed subjects who attacked her and stole her vehicle. The LoJack® system that she had installed in her vehicle less than three months earlier proved its worth by helping local law enforcement recover the SUV and locate the suspects as well, later that same day.

On April 21st, 2014, the Toyota’s owner contacted the Pinecrest Police Department to report the incident. The responding officer prepared a stolen vehicle report and theft affidavit and had the vehicle’s information entered into the state and federal crime computers. This routine police procedure automatically activated the LoJack unit concealed in the RAV4, which was installed at Kendall Toyota in Miami, FL.

Within minutes of activation, Miami Gardens PD officers picked up the silent homing signal from the stolen SUV on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The Honda was located traveling through Miami and Miami Gardens and was finally stopped in Opa Locka. The suspects exited the SUV and fled on foot but were soon taken into custody. The RAV4 was retrieved and soon returned to its thankful owner.
