A car dealership contacted the El Cerrito Police Department to report that one of their vehicles, a 2017 Honda Accord, had been stolen by means of fraud/identity theft. The El Cerrito Police Department verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Honda Accord.

A short time after the LoJack activation, officers with the California Highway Patrol Air Operations Unit in a fixed wing aircraft were flying over the city of San Pablo when they were alerted to the stolen Honda Accord by the silent LoJack signal received with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the stolen Honda Accord was tracked to the area of 17th Street near Market Avenue, where it was observed parked at the curb.  The CHP air unit directed in San Pablo PD ground patrol units who found the vehicle unoccupied.

The stolen Honda Accord was recovered by San Pablo PD and the vehicle was released to a representative from the dealership.  The LoJack® System was installed in the 2017 Honda Accord in October 2017, at Honda of El Cerrito, in El Cerrito, CA.
