The owner of a 2005 Lincoln Town Car contacted the Phoenix Police Department to report that their vehicle had been stolen. The owner advised that he was in a motel room with an acquaintance and passed out. When he woke up, his keys were missing and found that his Lincoln had been stolen. The Phoenix Police Department verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Lincoln.

Nine minutes later, the air unit and officers from the Phoenix Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Lincoln with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the vehicle to the area of 27th Avenue and Glenrosa Avenue.
The stolen Lincoln was found unoccupied in an apartment complex parking lot less than one half mile from where it was stolen. The Phoenix Police Department officers recovered the vehicle and processed it for evidence. The vehicle was released to the owner at the scene in good condition.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Lincoln Town Car in August 2005, at Scottsdale Lincoln Mercury, Scottsdale, Arizona.
