The owners of a 2007 Toyota Matrix contacted the Columbus Police Department to report that their vehicle had been stolen from in front of their residence.  Columbus Police verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota.

A short while later deputies from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Toyota with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the deputies tracked the vehicle to apartment complex parking lot in Columbus.  It appeared that the suspects parked it there to “cool off”.

Because of the quick recovery the stolen Toyota was not damaged and the suspects did not have enough time to strip it.  The owners responded to the location and the stolen vehicle was released on the scene.  The owners were very happy that they had a LoJack® System installed when they purchased the Toyota.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Toyota Matrix in August 2009 at Hatfield Auto Mall, Columbus, OH.
