The owner of a 2010 Ford Fusion parked their car, leaving unlocked and possibly leaving the key in the center console. When the owner returned to where they parked their Ford they discovered it missing. The owner contacted the Orlando Police Department to report their Ford stolen. The responding officer prepared a stolen vehicle report, theft affidavit and had the vehicle’s information entered into the state and federal crime information computers, which automatically activates the LoJack® System concealed in the 4-door sedan.

Immediately upon activation, while on routine patrol, a Florida Highway Patrol trooper picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Ford on their on-board LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC), that are installed in law enforcement patrol vehicles and aircraft. The trooper began tracking the stolen Ford from SR436 and Kalmia Drive by following the directional and audible cues on their PTC’s screen. The trooper, along with their backup from an FHP Lieutenant, located the Fusion on Areca Drive, parked on the east side of Colonial High School. The Ford was recovered, removed from state and federal crime information computer systems by the entering agency and released to the owner, who responded to the scene.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2010 Ford Fusion in July 2009 at Apple Ford in Columbia, Maryland.
