The owners of a 2009 Ford Flex contacted the Phoenix Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen by a known suspect with the keys.

The Phoenix PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Ford.

Five minutes later, officers from the Tolleson Police Department and the Avondale Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Ford with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Ford to the area of Central Avenue and Van Buren Street in Avondale.

The Ford was located occupied approximately 30 miles from where it was stolen from. The Avondale PD officers stopped and detained two suspects without incident. The Ford was recovered in good condition and later returned to the owners.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Ford Flex in January 2009 at Tom Jones Ford in Buckeye, Arizona.
