The owner of a 2013 Honda Accord contacted the Miami-Dade Police Department to report their vehicle stolen. The responding officer prepared a stolen vehicle report, theft affidavit and had the vehicle’s information entered into the state and federal crime information computers, which automatically activates the LoJack® System concealed in the Honda.

Later that morning, an Auto Theft Task Force investigator picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Accord on their on-board LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC), that are installed in law enforcement patrol vehicles, helicopters, and fixed-wing aircraft. The investigator began tracking the stolen Honda by following the directional and audible cues on their PTC’s screen. The investigator, along with their backup from Miami-Dade PD officers, located the 4-door sedan parked abandoned in a guest parking space at NW 188th Street and NW 53rd Avenue inside of a gated community. The car was recovered, removed from state and federal crime information computer systems by the entering agency and towed to the police impound yard for safekeeping.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2013 Honda Accord in September 2014 at Aventura Honda in North Miami Beach, Florida.
