The owner of a 2002 Ford Escape contacted the Baltimore City Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen after the vehicle was left unattended with the engine running and keys in the ignition from the area of 2700 Pressbury Street in Baltimore City. The Baltimore City PD Radio dispatched an officer from the 7th District to investigate the incident. The officer quickly arrived on location, interviewed the complainant and surveyed the area for the Ford Escape. When the officer was unable to locate the Ford a stolen vehicle report was prepared. The officer then arranged for the stolen vehicle information to be entered into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Ford Escape.

A short while later, officers from the Baltimore City PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Ford Escape with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in their patrol vehicles and helicopters. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Ford to the area of 3500 Elmley Avenue in the Belair-Edison area of Baltimore City. At this location officers observed the Ford parked and unoccupied. The undamaged Ford was then recovered by police and the owner notified.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2002 Ford Escape in November 2001 at Bob Davidson Ford in Parkville, Maryland.
