The owner of a 2010 Toyota Yaris contacted the New York Police Department of the 83precinct, Ridgewood Brooklyn that his vehicle had been stolen. The owner stated that he parked his Toyota and locked his vehicle in front of his house. When he came out in the morning he found the Toyota missing. He immediately reported the theft to the 83 precinct.

The NYPD 83 precinct verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota.

A short while later, officers from the 83 precinct picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Toyota on their LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) installed in their patrol vehicles. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC they tracked the signal into the Bushwick section of Brooklyn, confines of the 83 precinct. There they found the Toyota which was parked on a residential street. They decided to stake the Toyota out; they staked it out for a short while. However when no one ever showed up for it, they took the Toyota into custody. The Toyota was recovered with no damage. The owner was contacted and was present on the scene. He was elated that his Toyota was recovered so quickly, especially with no damage on it. The owner stated that he was happy that when he purchased the Toyota, he purchased the LoJack® System with it. He further stated that if it wasn’t for LoJack his Toyota may never have been recovered at all.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2010 Toyota Yaris in October 2010 at Lees Toyota in Jamaica, New York.
