The owner of a 2006 Honda Civic invited a “friend” home for an evening of entertainment. After a while the “friend” excused themselves to go outside of the house for a smoke. Shortly thereafter the owner went outside for a smoke as well and discovered their “friend” missing. They then discovered their keys and Honda missing as well. The owner contacted the Duval County Sheriff’s Office to report their Honda stolen. The responding officer prepared a stolen vehicle report, theft affidavit and had the vehicle’s information entered into the state and federal crime information computers, which automatically activates the LoJack® System concealed in the Honda.

Later that morning, while on routine patrol, a Duval County SO officer picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Civic’s transponder on their on-board LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC), that are installed in law enforcement patrol vehicles and aircraft. The officer began tracking the stolen Honda by following the directional and audible cues on their PTC’s screen. The officer, along with their backup, located the 4-door sedan abandoned in the 7200 block of Smyrna St. The Honda was recovered, removed from state and federal crime information computer systems by the entering agency and towed to the police impound yard for safekeeping.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2006 Honda Civic in November 2015 at AutoWay Honda in Clearwater, Florida.
