The owner of a 2016 Kia Optima called the New Brunswick Police Department to report that his vehicle had been stolen. The customer told the police that he had parked the Kia in his driveway for the evening. Around 10:00 PM he heard a noise outside and when he looked outside he saw that the Kia was gone.

The New Brunswick PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Kia Optima.

Within minutes of the theft being reported to the police, officers from the New Brunswick PD picked up the silent LoJack signal coming from the stolen Kia with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in their patrol vehicles. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Kia to Jersey Ave in New Brunswick where the Kia was observed being operated by a young male suspect. The Kia was stopped by the police and the operator was taken into custody. The Kia was recovered undamaged.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2016 Kia Optima in December 2016 at Route 1 Auto Mall in Avenel, New Jersey.
