The owner of a Toyota Sequoia contacted the Escondido Police Department to report that his vehicle was stolen in the city of Escondido.

The Escondido PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota.

At a later time, deputies from the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Toyota with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the deputies tracked the Toyota to the 700 block of Carmel Circle Ave in the city of Vista. A traffic stop was made and one suspect was arrested for vehicle theft and possession of stolen property.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Toyota Sequoia in September 2003 at Toyota of Carlsbad in California.
