The owner of a 2009 Mercedes Benz CLS-550 was visiting from out of town and parked their car in front of the house where they were staying. They went out for dinner. Upon returning home they discovered their Mercedes missing. They contacted the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office to report their Mercedes stolen. The responding deputy prepared a stolen vehicle report, theft affidavit and had the vehicle’s information entered into the state and federal crime information computers, which automatically activates the LoJack® System concealed in the Mercedes Benz.

Shortly after activation while on routine patrol, a Palm Beach County SO deputy picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen CLS-550 on their on-board LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC) that are installed in law enforcement patrol vehicles, helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft. The deputy began tracking the stolen Mercedes by following the directional and audible cues on their PTC’s screen. The deputy, along with their backup, located the 4-door sedan. The Mercedes was recovered, removed from state and federal crime information computer systems by the entering agency and towed to the police impound yard for safekeeping.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2009 Mercedes Benz CLS-550 February 2009 at Mercedes Benz of Miami in Florida.
