The owner of a Mitsubishi Diamante contacted the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department to report that his vehicle was stolen in the unincorporated area of San Diego County.

The San Diego County SD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Mitsubishi.

Within 12 minutes, officers from the San Diego Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Mitsubishi with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Mitsubishi to the 4800 block of Logan Street in the city of San Diego. A traffic stop was made; one suspect was arrested for vehicle theft and possession of stolen property.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Mitsubishi Diamante in April 2000 at San Diego Mitsubishi in California.
