The owner of a 2005 Toyota Camry contacted the Mishawaka Police Department to report that someone had stolen his vehicle from his residence on the 5800 block of Iroquois Ave in Mishawaka. The victim stated he was unsure of the plates on the Toyota when it was stolen but was able to provide the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). The Mishawaka PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota.

A vehicle equipped with a LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC) picked up the silent and directional signal being broadcast from the stolen Toyota Camry in South Bend. Following the LoJack signal the stolen Toyota was tracked and discovered on the 700 block of N Eddy Street on a concrete pad behind a house. The South Bend Police Department was summoned to the scene and discovered the house had a key box on the front door. Examination of the Toyota showed the VIN had been obscured in an attempt to hinder identification of the vehicle. The Toyota was recovered and towed from the scene. Police investigation into the stolen Toyota Camry continues.

Due to LoJack the owner of this Toyota Camry had his vehicle recovered although steps had been taken to hide its identification. The Toyota was recovered undamaged, before it could be stripped, re-tagged, cloned or used in a crime.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Toyota Camry in January 2008 at Luxury Motors O’Hare in Franklin Park, Illinois.
