LoJack System Helps Philadelphia Police Department Recover a Stolen BMW 325i

The owner of a 2006 BMW 325i convertible recently discovered that the vehicle had been stolen from the parking spot in the area of his residence located in Newark, New Jersey. The owner called 911 and the Newark Police Department Radio dispatched a uniformed officer to investigate the incident. The officer quickly arrived on location, interviewed the complainant and then surveyed the area for the BMW. When the officer was unable to locate the BMW a stolen vehicle report was prepared and the stolen vehicle information was then entered into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the BMW.
A short while later a member of the Philadelphia Police Department, Pennsylvania, picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen BMW with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officer tracked the signal to the area of 8700 Autumn Road in the northeast section of Philadelphia. The officer observed the parked BMW and cautiously approached same to discover that the vehicle was unoccupied.
The BMW was confiscated for safekeeping.
The Newark PD was advised to cancel their stolen vehicle alarm and notify the vehicle owner regarding the recovery.
The LoJack® System was installed in the BMW 325i in August 2006 at BMW of Tenafly in New Jersey.
